I often receive inquiries about Falstaff items. Most of the questions usually ask about rather common items. However, every now and then a real jewel shows up. This is a rare test can with an acetate label over an unknown base can. United States Beer Cans, Volume II lists the can as # 230-40 with an estimated value of $850. Needless to say the inquirer was very pleased to have the information. He had bought the can in the 70's when he was 13 for $3.00. Even at 40 years that is a good return on an investment. He listed the can on eBay. The auction closed Jul 13, 2010 13:44:22 PDT. The final bid was $969.87, well over the estimated book value. With eBay, you never know. Full disclosure; The seller has offered me a small commission for providing the information which I plan to refuse. This site is meant to be a service to collectors and strictly non-profit. I will give a best guess estimate for any item based on my database gathered from eBay sales. I will not offer to buy or accept offers to buy based on my estimates. On eBay, you never know what is going to happen and I will not take a chance on what may be perceived as low balling an estimate for self profit. I am always happy to provide any information that I can.
Thank you for visiting my site. This site's main purpose is to provide an online database of Falstaff Breweriana. I have had the site online for about a year and a half now. I started with about 1000 images and have been adding images and other related information regularly. There are now over 2000 images. I am also updating some of the older entries that I have not been all that happy with. I am scanning The Shield newsletter and annual reports in my collection and will be adding them as downloadable PDF files. I am also adding can reference numbers from BCCA's United States Beer Cans. This is taking time as I am reshooting most of my photos to provide better detail for identification. Also adding some eBay results. If a photo has a $ sign beside it, click on the picture and a new page will come up with a larger picture and some Ebay reults.
There are other excellent sites that feature the history of Falstaff, most notably John Smallshaw's Falstaff site and Joel Gandt's Lemp site I plan to provide links to the various sites when it seems appropriate. Hopefully this site will add some small bit to the information provided by the other sites.
Please have a look around. Hope you find the site of some interest and use. Please contact me if you have questions, contributions, comments, suggestions or whatever. I will try to respond promptly.
